Makerspaces

  • 3D Modeling & Printing

3D Modeling & Printing is a part of our Technology Lab. Teens get the chance to work with experienced 3D modeling and designers to create a wide range of 3D printing pieces. Some from prescribed instructions others from their own imagination.

  • Vector Designs

Vector graphics are an industry standard. Unlike photos they can be scaled endlessly without loosing quality. The fun part is they can also be used to engrave and cut out. Using one of three incredible machines teens can make Vinyl stickers or heat transfers for T-shirts, laser engraved or cut wood and leather pieces and CNC V-Carved signs and cutouts.

  • Arts & Crafts

You may say you are not an artist. We don’t believe you. In your own way, somewhere inside of you, by design in the image of the most creative Creator himself, you are, in fact, creative. Painting, drawing or colouring, anyone? Want to be a professional artist? here is a good place to start!

  • Culinary Kitchen

Yum! They say you are what you eat? Are you a cookie? or some hand pulled noodles? Candy? or just supper to share? Food is a rich part of our ministry from community summer BBQ services, to breakfasts provided at the Highschool or Suppers at the drop in. Come and learn to make all sorts of strange goodies.

  • Sounds Studio

If you like noise, then you came to the right place. And we are not just talking about a busy youth center filled with teens having a good time, building relationships and getting to know Jesus Christ either. Are you interested in playing Guitar, Drums, Bass, Piano? or being a part of a Podcast? May be you want to learn some Music Engineering?

  • Workshop

An Airplane? What craziness is this? This is YFC craziness. Being a part of the community here at YFC means the community being a part of the ministry we do.

  • Woodshop

While our Workshop is busy building an Airplane, the woodshop has a variety of woodworking saws and tools including a CNC Router. The possibilities really are endless.

  • Technology Lab

Although our technology lab includes our 3D Modeling and Printing and Vector Design spaces it has so much more to it. Raspberry Pi Controllers work great for making tabletop video game station, or use Unity to create your very own computer game. These controller pieces are for a Video Game stand alone console. That is just one of the projects underway are Invictus Makerspace.

  • Lego Lab

Want to build a prototype machine with gears and motors? Or just be creative with Lego. The Lego lab is a great place just to build without having to learn how to use a new software or equipment. Simple in function, with complex possibilities.

Principled Creativity

Not only is Invictus an empowering, Hands-on, Discipleship program it is also designed to be a SAFE place. Safe for all teens no matter their journey, identity or background AND Safe from hazards or injury. This is why “Safe.” is one of Invictus’ 4 leading principles.

  • Safety training and programs are set in place. But if no one does them then they are useless. Utilizing our programs gamification we make a purposeful and rewarding effort to train our volunteers and teens and to ensure diligence in eliminating injury within Invictus Makerspace.

  • A complex 3D model is often the great idea many teens have when they first enter the Technology Lab. Is it a reality? Nope, not yet! But it can be. Patience, kindness, Perseverance, Hope, these are all parts of walking along side teens who just need some love and value given to them. (1 Corinthians 12 anyone?) Empower is not just about learning new skills and creating cool things it’s also about empowering the teens to thrive and more importantly empowering them to see Christ a little be more each day. Hoping that as we share our lives they will find Christ and surrender to him.

  • We could do it for them. But that is pointless. The healthiest teens are the ones who are taught how to do something, shown and then enabled to do it. Yes, first with guidance but eventually enabling them to safely do their projects.

  • Jesus did not just come for one day, preach a great sermon and then leave. He did not abandon the disciples before they were ready. He journeyed with them. Invictus is a makerspace but is also means a lot more. It means unconquerable or undefeated. Best said in Romans 8:37-39, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” I trust now you know why we do what we do.
